During the
holy month of Ramadan, on March 14-15, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held the
fourth meeting of the National Kurultai. The Kurultai featured heated
discussions on the most pressing issues in key sectors, including civil
society, culture, arts, spirituality, education and science, and socio-economic
development. Government officials, members of the Presidential Administration,
and Parliament deputies addressed numerous questions and engaged in meaningful
discussions. The Head of State first expressed his views on the widely debated
tax reform. Additionally, the Kurultai emphasized the importance of developing
a new energy sector as a solid foundation for the country’s economic growth.
The
President highlighted the necessity of constructing not just one but three
nuclear power plants and establishing a nuclear cluster in Kazakhstan. Furthermore,
it was proposed to adopt a unified program, "Kazakhstan`s Children," to regulate measures for
preventing domestic violence. Social activists also suggested renaming the "Unified Upbringing" program
being introduced in schools to "Honest
Citizen." Economic matters were also a key topic of discussion. The
need for financial support to improve the national economy was emphasized, with
a particular focus on prioritizing business support. Additionally, plans to
develop infrastructure and open new factories and plants were presented as
significant steps toward national progress.
President
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev endorsed the initiatives discussed at the Kurultai and
instructed the government to ensure their effective implementation. We, too,
express our support for these major undertakings and stand ready to contribute
to fulfilling the tasks within our respective fields.
