This year marks the
180th anniversary of the birth of the great poet,
profound thinker, educator, and composer Abai Kunanbaiuly. Abai is the
spiritual compass of the Kazakh nation, an outstanding figure whose invaluable
contribution extends beyond national heritage to the treasury of world culture.
His works and philosophical reflections have withstood the test of time,
remaining relevant and continuing to guide every new generation.
Abai was born in 1845 in what is now Abai Region. From an early age, he demonstrated a thirst
for knowledge and self-development. He absorbed the best of Eastern and Western
cultures, opening new horizons for Kazakh literature. His poetry and Forty-Five Words of Edification are an eternal spiritual
legacy, calling for morality, justice, education, and diligence.
Abai placed special value on labor as the foundation
of human life. His words, “Without labor, a person
will not rise,” and “Work without idleness,
and you will be full without begging,” remain as relevant today as
ever, reminding us of the worth of honest work and dedication. For the great
thinker, labor was not only a means of livelihood but also a path to spiritual
perfection and a driving force for societal progress.
Abai’s maxim, “Love all humankind as
your brother,” has become a universal principle of peace and mutual
respect. These ideas continue to form the foundation of Kazakhstan’s spiritual
renewal in the 21st century.
The staff of the International Engineering and
Technology University warmly congratulates all Kazakhstanis on the 180th
anniversary of the great thinker!
Abai’s legacy is the inexhaustible spiritual wealth and eternal beacon of our
nation. We will always honor his wise words and noble ideals, passing them on
to future generations as a sacred duty.
