Open Dialogue at METU: Second Day of Student Meetings

On the second day of the open dialogue series at International Engineering and Technology University (METU), a meeting was held with students from the Department of Smart Technologies in Engineering and the Department of Software Engineering. The event continued the university’s systematic efforts to strengthen feedback mechanisms and enhance transparency in the academic process.

Key Academic Topics

The meeting was organized by the Youth Policy Department in cooperation with the Registrar’s Office. During the session, students were provided with a detailed explanation of the Platonus information system, followed by discussions on key academic matters.

Special attention was given to class attendance, compliance with academic and internal regulations, as well as the role and responsibilities of group leaders (class representatives) in organizing and coordinating the learning process.

Open Discussion and University Initiatives

Held in an open dialogue format, the meeting allowed students to raise relevant questions and receive comprehensive, practical answers. Participants were also introduced to major university initiatives—“Law and Order”, “Adal Azamat” (Honest Citizen), and “Taza Kazakhstan” (Clean Kazakhstan)—aimed at fostering legal awareness, academic integrity, and social responsibility among students.

Effective Engagement

This format enables the university to respond promptly to student needs, consider their suggestions, and strengthen cooperation between students and the administration. Open dialogue meetings contribute to a supportive learning environment and encourage active student participation in university life.

The open dialogue series at METU will continue, with upcoming meetings planned for students from other departments.
