March 16 – Day of Culture and National Traditions

Today is a special day dedicated to celebrating the spiritual heritage, customs, and national values that have been formed by our people over many centuries. On this day, cultural and educational events are organized that reveal the rich culture and lifestyle of the Kazakh people, and special attention is given to fostering national spirit and historical awareness among young people.

In this regard, today an educational event titled “Popularizing Kazakh National Traditions” was held among first-year students, with the participation of both Kazakh and Russian-language groups.

The main goal of the event was to explain the meaning of national traditions to the younger generation, to promote their educational value among youth, and to introduce the richness of Kazakh culture in a multicultural environment.

The event was organized in a creative format called “One Tradition – One Group.” Each group selected one Kazakh national tradition and prepared short video clips explaining its meaning and distinctive features.

With the participation of students from the Kazakh and Russian groups of the “Tourism”, “Marketing”, and “Accounting and Audit”  the Kazakh tradition Kudalyk (matchmaking) was presented, and its meaning and characteristics were demonstrated through a short theatrical performance. In addition, various Kazakh customs and traditions – Besikke salu (placing a baby in the cradle), Syrga salu (the ceremony of putting earrings on the bride), wedding traditions, and Tusaukeser (the ceremony of cutting the ties on a child’s legs when they take their first steps) – were presented through video clips that artistically conveyed their educational and cultural significance.

In the final part of the event, students expressively recited excerpts from the works of the great figures of Kazakh literature – Abai Kunanbayev, Zhambyl Zhabayev, and Mukagali Makataev, conveying the national spirit through poetry.

This event once again proved that our traditions are not only a legacy of the past but also a spiritual foundation of modern society. Honoring national values and passing them on to the younger generation is an important step toward the future. Only a generation that respects and values its traditions can preserve its culture and continue its development in harmony with modern times.

Through such meaningful initiatives, our national culture will continue to revive, and the continuity of traditions will grow stronger. May our national spirit remain strong and our traditions live on forever!
