METU hosted its first Digital Nauryz, a modern take on the traditional holiday: the event featured digital traditions and festive greetings delivered in the languages of 13 different countries.
The International University of Engineering and Technology hosted a milestone event — the first Digital Nauryz in the country. Organized in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the event became a vivid reflection of the Head of State`s initiatives. As President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has emphasized the importance of digitalization, noting that Kazakhstan should become an IT-driven nation, the digitalization of cultural traditions has become a key priority. In an era of digital transformation, METU students presented unique media content dedicated to a modern interpretation of the holiday:
Interactive digital cards and visual materials with national motifs.
Creative video greetings where ancient customs seamlessly merged with modern trends.
Student-led media content created using advanced graphic design and video editing.
A special emphasis was placed on international cooperation. Heartfelt video messages were sent by METU students currently studying in Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, and China under the academic mobility program. The students not only congratulated their home university but also expressed sincere gratitude for the opportunity to study at leading foreign centers and represent Kazakhstan`s culture on the global stage. The culmination of Digital Nauryz was the participation of METU’s international students. Currently, the university is home to representatives from 13 countries.
The "highlight" of the event was a series of video greetings where each international student addressed Kazakhstanis in their native language. This multilingual tribute emphasized the spirit of unity and hospitality that Nauryz embodies, making the holiday truly global and accessible to everyone.Digital Nauryz at METU proved that digitalization does not distance us from our roots but helps reveal their depth. The combination of technology, international outreach, and respect for tradition has set a new standard for celebrating Nauryz, fully aligning with the country`s course toward creating a high-tech and globally open society.
