On May 1–2,
2026, one of the world’s major drone soccer competitions — “Palm Springs Drone
Fest 2026” — was held in Palm Springs, California, USA.
Teams from
the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Jamaica participated in the tournament.
Students of the Kemel Bilim International School from Aktobe, representing the “SkyWings”
team, demonstrated outstanding performance and won gold and silver medals.
Drone
soccer is a modern team sport in which players control drones protected by mesh
frames and score goals into the opponent’s ring-shaped target. The tournament
was held under the auspices of the International Drone Soccer Federation (FIDA)
and served as a qualifying stage for the World Championship in South Korea.
The
International Engineering and Technology University METU provided sponsorship
and image support to the “SkyWings” team as part of their preparation for
participation in the “FIDA USA Grand Nationals Drone Soccer Tournament 2026.”
Supporting
such initiatives contributes to the development of innovative technologies,
engineering education, and the promotion of talented youth on the international
stage.
