Students of the Software Engineering Department of the International Engineering and Technological University (METU) successfully represented the university on the international stage and became prize winners of a prestigious robotics championship, earning Third Prize.
As previously reported, second-year students of the Software Engineering educational program, Arnur Ospanov and Raimbek Askar, participated in an academic mobility program at Jiangsu University of Technology (JSUT, China), where they successfully completed the spring semester and demonstrated outstanding academic performance.
During their studies in China, the METU students joined forces with JSUT students to participate in the 2026 International Embodied Intelligence Innovation Competition – Central Asia Robotics Special Event, dedicated to one of the most promising areas of modern robotics — Embodied Intelligence.
After several months of intensive collaboration, the international team developed an innovative project in the field of intelligent robotic systems and qualified for the final stage of the competition, which was held in Astana at Nazarbayev University.
Following the project presentations before an international panel of experts, the team, which included METU students Arnur Ospanov and Raimbek Askar, was awarded Third Prize. The achievement was officially recognized by a certificate issued by the competition organizers, the China Electronic Enterprises Association.
This accomplishment is a vivid example of the effectiveness of international cooperation between METU and JSUT and confirms the high level of education provided to METU students in software engineering, artificial intelligence, and robotics.
Participation in such international projects enables students not only to apply their knowledge in practice but also to gain invaluable experience working in multicultural teams, develop research skills, and represent Kazakhstan on prestigious global platforms.
The administration of the International Engineering and Technological University congratulates Arnur Ospanov and Raimbek Askar on their well-deserved success and wishes them further achievements in their academic and professional careers.
Their accomplishment is a source of pride for the entire university and an inspiring example for all METU students striving to reach new heights in science and technology.
