On September 1, METU welcomed the beginning of the new 2026–2027 academic year on Knowledge Day.

The beginning of a new academic year marks a new stage filled with opportunities for learning, personal growth and new achievements. For first-year students, this day was especially meaningful as they took their first steps into university life.

As part of the Knowledge Day activities, METU Rector Darkhan Berikuly Akpanbetov congratulated the newly admitted students on the beginning of the academic year and wished them success in their studies, new achievements and an unforgettable student journey.

The freshmen also met the faculty members of their respective departments and learned more about their educational programs, academic environment and the university`s learning process. This meeting provided an opportunity for students to become familiar with their future academic environment and take their first steps toward adapting to university life.

As part of the new academic year`s opening, laptop computers were presented to students who received educational grants on behalf of the university. This initiative is aimed at supporting students and providing them with additional opportunities to use modern technologies in their studies.

The new academic year promises METU students new knowledge, valuable experience, exciting projects and bright initiatives.
