First-year students of the “Tourism” program at the International Engineering and Technological University (METU), together with G.G. Tsyrenzhapova, lecturer of the Department of Social-Humanitarian Disciplines and World Languages, visited the Almaty Botanical Garden on September 17.

This was not just a stroll, but an opportunity to look at a familiar urban space from a professional perspective. The students got acquainted with the diversity of plant life, the features of the territory, and its significance for recreation, environmental education, and educational tourism.

Special attention was given to the Botanical Garden’s potential for organizing excursion routes, as well as to developing professional speaking skills — the ability to present a natural landmark as a tourist destination. This format makes it possible to combine direct engagement with Almaty’s tourism potential with language and professional training, showing that professional speech is shaped not only in the classroom but also in real communicative situations.

Travel begins with the ability to notice something interesting nearby — and to turn what one has seen into an engaging route.
