On October 28, 2026, the Department of Social
Sciences and Humanities and World Languages organized a student debate as part
of English Language Week under the theme “Student Debate: Two Topics – Two Perspectives.”
The event was organized by lecturers Makhazhanova Lyailya Madibekovna and Aitkulova Kuralay Ongarovna.
During the debate, students discussed two relevant
topics: “The Last Human” and “Break the Silence: Stop Bullying.”
Participants expressed their views in English, presented arguments to support
their positions, and responded to opposing viewpoints.
The main objectives of the event were to improve
students’ English-speaking skills, develop critical thinking, encourage them to
express their opinions confidently and effectively, and enhance their public
speaking abilities.
The debate encouraged active student
participation, promoted the exchange of ideas, and provided an opportunity to
practise English in a real-life communication setting. Such activities help
increase students’ interest in learning English and contribute to the
development of their communicative competence.
